Jesse Brown Wins Indianapolis City Council District 13 Election.
The Self-Described Marxist, Pro-Lockdown & Mandate Socialist Democrat is My New City Councilman.
NOTE: My prognostication in this post that Mr. Brown would become more of an establishment Democrat has been proven wrong less than two weeks after the election. Read what happened in the next post.
There’s an old joke; you often see dogs barking and chasing after cars… what would a dog do with a car if he caught one?
Jesse Brown is the dog that caught the car. He unexpectedly beat Indy City Council Vice President Zach Adamson in the primary and ran unopposed by the Indy GOP until Libertarian Libby Glass entered the race. There are only two party line choices on voting machines, Republican and Democrat, so Libby Glass didn’t stand a chance. Media coverage of the election was sparse and portrayed Jesse Brown as a moderate, ignoring the many controversial positions he’s taken on social media. On the eve of victory, Mr. Brown beclowned himself with this post on X:
What will Jesse Brown do in office? My guess is Mr. Brown will follow the example of other Democratic Socialists and become a loyal, establishment Democrat… a Hoosier AOC. If he does, there will likely be no more mention of Mr. Brown on this blog. However, if Mr. Brown’s inner demons take control and he acts out as bizarrely as he has done in this election, I may make a note of it here and on my @Avidor X account.
In the future, this blog will be mostly about my art & films, not politics. If you’re here for the politics, feel free to unsubscribe.
Hang in there!!!
There were similar results in elections across the US yesterday. Elections in their current form don’t work. People across the US are working for fundamental structural change to break the duopoly & return power to citizens. That is our best hope for meaningful democratic change. My work creating an online visual database of these innovative initiatives continues. There is cumulative power in the example of these alternative political models outside parties & government.
